News Producer

About the role

The News Producer will be responsible for the day-to-day production of WRGB/WCWN’s newscasts. They will work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors to ensure the newscasts are engaging, informative, and meet high standards of quality.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content and flow of newscasts
• Work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories
• Develop content for the station’s website
• Ensure stories align with the station’s news judgment and editorial guidelines
• Collaborate with the team to produce a compelling and informative newscast
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines to deliver high-quality newscasts
• Execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Show flexibility and problem-solving skills under pressure

Requirements

• Solid news judgment
• Compelling and accurate writing skills
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Proficiency with non-linear editing software (Avid)
• Knowledge of newsroom systems (iNews Experience)

Qualifications

• At least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station
• A journalism degree is preferred

Pay

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $21.12 per hour. Final compensation will be determined by various factors including relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
