News Producer

About the role

The News Producer will be responsible for the day-to-day production of KFDM's newscasts. They will work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors to ensure the newscasts are engaging and informative.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content and flow of newscasts
• Work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories
• Develop content for the web site
• Show solid news judgment
• Write compelling and accurate stories
• Multitask and manage time effectively
• Create an exciting and informative newscast
• Collaborate with management and on-air staff
• Execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Show flexibility and problem-solving abilities
• Use proficiency in non-linear editing and newsroom systems

Requirements

• Previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station
• Journalism degree preferred

• Solid news judgment
• A compelling and accurate writer
• Ability to multitask and manage time
• Fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities
