News Producer

About the role

KHGI is seeking a creative News Producer to join their team. The News Producer will be responsible for the day-to-day production of newscasts, working closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content and flow of newscasts
• Work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories
• Develop content for the website
• Have solid news judgment
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Multitask and manage time to produce an exciting and informative newscast
• Work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Show strong leadership and communication skills
• Execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Show flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities
• Be proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews Experience

Requirements

• Must have at least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station
• A journalism degree is preferred
