KOMO is seeking a creative full-time News Photojournalist who can see beyond the lens and bring back compelling stories.
About the role
You will cover day-to-day general assignments, in-depth features, and investigative stories. The team shoots with Sony PXW-X400 cameras, Fuji broadcast lenses, dual wireless lavs, Sony cubes with Sennheiser shotguns, Litepanel lights, and new tripods (Hotpods and Flowtech). Editing is currently done on Avid, with a transition to Adobe Premiere planned for 2027. Each photojournalist is provided with a dedicated car and laptop.
Responsibilities
- Shoot and edit general assignment stories, live shots, and natural sound packages under tight deadlines.
- Operate ENG news vehicles and field equipment, including LiveU’s, FTP, MiFi, and Store-and-Forward systems.
- Produce high-quality stories while working collaboratively under deadline pressure.
- Lift and carry equipment weighing between 25 and 50 pounds regularly.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of TV news shooting experience with a network affiliate.
- Proficiency in non-linear editing (Avid, Premiere).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly in the field.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate ENG news vehicles.
- Excellent people skills, strong work ethic, and a passion for storytelling.
Pay
The hourly compensation range for this role is $31.25 to $33.93. Final compensation will be determined by relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
