NEW YORKER Group-Services International GmbH & Co. KG is the holding entity behind the NEW YORKER youth-fashion chain, headquartered in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony. Founded in 1971, the company has grown to operate roughly 1,150 branches across 47 countries with over 23,000 employees, making it one of the largest privately held retailers in Germany. The group is not affiliated with the American magazine of the same name.

Originally opened under Tilmar Hansen and Michael Simson, the business was later taken over by Friedrich Knapp, who expanded it to surpass €1 billion in sales by December 2006. Following Knapp’s passing in November 2024, succession was pre-arranged: his daughter Sophie Knapp serves as deputy chair of the supervisory board, while Jonas Gnauck, elevated to the NEW YORKER SE board in May 2024, now leads the business alongside Helene Steiner. A private foundation, NEW YORKER Stiftung Friedrich Knapp, holds part of the corporate structure.
The company operates a Bombardier Global 7500 (BD-700-2A12, S/N 70009, registration 4247B6) registered in the Cayman Islands, managed by offshore trustees such as ExecuJet Europe AG and AXIS Aviation Switzerland. The aircraft is frequently sighted at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg Airport, approximately eight kilometers from the company’s headquarters, though its official base is not publicly filed.
