About the role
This position provides support to eligible Families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age. It aims to support young military Families, contributing to mission readiness, adapting to military life, and enhancing healthy relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide activities and services including information and referrals, parenting programs, respite care for children, and supervised play time for children.
- Offer additional, more-intensive support to Families at risk for child maltreatment and/or Family violence.
- Ensure effective, timely, and confidential services for Families at risk.
- Protect client privacy and confidentiality.
- Identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse.
- Assess developmental milestones and refer for special needs or developmental delays.
- Assess and strengthen adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity.
- Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills and disciplinary techniques, and parent-child communication skills.
- Facilitate community networks to build positive relationships and reduce social isolation.
- Develop relationships with local officials and organizations to maximize program effectiveness.
- Utilize community-based services and networks to provide support during crises.
- Screen for and address protective and risk factors using a strengths-based, family-centered approach.
- Keep tracking system updated with case status.
- Participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events.
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, or maternal or child health or medical social work.
- A current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers must have a master’s degree in Social Work and a current, unrestricted license.
- Registered Nurses must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a current license, and at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Home visitation experience required.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to operate a vehicle.
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to communicate and interact with others, both in person and by phone.
- Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to transport self to private homes, other offices, and facilities.
- Ability to work with individuals who may have physical disabilities or be recovering from rehabilitation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work.
- Current, valid, unrestricted license in a State or U.S. territory.
- Experience with child abuse or domestic abuse, maternal or child health, public/community health, or mental health.
- Ability to travel as needed.
