About the Role
The RN Resident is a newly licensed nurse participating in a comprehensive 12-month Nurse Residency Program designed to support a successful transition into professional practice. The role involves providing patient-centered, safe, and high-quality nursing care under supervision, using evidence-based practices and critical thinking skills. The RN Resident collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, supports performance improvement initiatives, and upholds professional standards and organizational policies. They serve as a preceptor or mentor, promote research and evidence-based practice, and contribute to developing protocols for optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing processes including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Deliver culturally competent, individualized care in partnership with patients and families.
- Coordinate and document safe, quality care while fostering teamwork and communication among care team members.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and support evidence-based practice and research.
- Assist in resource management, protocol development, and system-wide safety goals.
- Complete mandatory education, professional development, and serve as preceptor or mentor.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, standards, and legal requirements.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse with BLS certification; multi-state RN license preferred.
- Less than one year of RN experience required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including MS Office and electronic health records (Epic, 3M preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to emergencies, and demonstrate critical thinking.
