New Graduate Nurse Residency Program

Role Overview

The RN Resident is a newly graduated registered nurse participating in a comprehensive 12-month Nurse Residency Program designed to support a smooth transition into professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform clinical nursing care following evidence-based practices and standards of care.
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring individualized treatment.
• Provide culturally competent, patient- and family-centered care, engaging patients and significant others through effective communication.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, maintaining adherence to policies and promoting service excellence.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license (single state or multi-state compact).
• Certifications in BLS required upon hire.
• Less than six months of nursing experience.

Training & Support

• Participation in specialty and core onboarding sessions, monthly NRP sessions, and system orientation.
• Supported by unit leaders, educators, preceptors, and site coordinators to develop critical thinking, clinical skills, and professional growth.
