New Grad RN Resident - Med/Surg

Join Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital, a Magnet-designated facility awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, providing state-of-the-art healthcare on the 3rd Floor Complex Medical Care unit. This unit cares for cardiac, respiratory, wound care, renal, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and post-operative patients. As an RN Resident, you will assist in delivering exceptional care, interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, and enhance their healthcare experience.

Schedule

Night shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with weekend and holiday requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability)
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently
• Document in patients’ medical records

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• If in a Critical Care area, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AHA must be presented upon hire or within the first year of hire
• New grad or less than one year of RN work experience, or if an experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
