New Grad RN Nurse Residency

About the Role

The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Catholic Medical Center is a year-long, paid program designed to transition new graduate nurses into professional practice. This program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training, and a supportive community to help you develop valuable clinical and critical thinking skills.

• Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
• Monthly educational sessions
• Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
• Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations
• Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders

Start date options available in January, February, and March 2027. Shift availability (day or night) will be discussed during the initial interview.

As an RN Resident, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental, state, and specialty standards. You will collaborate with medical providers and care teams to provide individualized, compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, reporting any changes in status
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient for therapeutic response
• Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended medication response
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures
• Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
• Other certifications may be required during employment
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state
• No previous experience needed
• Some travel may be required for training
