THE PROGRAM

The VEG New ER Doctor (NERD) program is designed to transform practicing non-emergency veterinarians into exceptional emergency veterinarians. This six-month program includes hands-on learning, mentorship, and extensive continuing education (CE) opportunities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work side-by-side with experienced VEG doctors to gain hands-on ER experience.
  • Attend weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and hands-on training sessions.
  • Earn over 160 RACE-approved CE hours during the program.
  • Receive comprehensive training in various emergency medicine techniques, including ultrasound, exotic animal care, surgery, and critical care.
  • Participate in hands-on training and CE sessions provided by VEG.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A passion for helping people and their pets.
  • A valid DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
  • At least one year of practice as a veterinarian.
  • A desire to specialize in emergency medicine.
  • A valid license to practice veterinary medicine and DEA registration.
  • The ability to work in a noisy environment and with strong or unpleasant odors.
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse personalities.
  • A commitment to a six-month program schedule.
