About the role
VEG was founded in 2014 with the mission to improve the emergency veterinary experience for both people and their pets. Since then, VEG has grown to operate 24/7, 365 days a year, with a commitment to providing exceptional care and a positive workplace environment for all employees.
THE PROGRAM
The VEG New ER Doctor (NERD) program is designed to transform practicing non-emergency veterinarians into exceptional emergency medicine specialists. This six-month program includes hands-on learning, mentorship, and extensive continuing education (CE) opportunities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Work alongside experienced VEG doctors to gain hands-on ER experience through 3-4 hospital shifts per week.
- Participate in weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and hands-on training at state-of-the-art facilities.
- Learn best practices for client-centered communication and care.
WHAT YOU NEED
- A passion for helping people and their pets.
- A valid DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
- To have been practicing as a veterinarian for at least one year.
- A desire to specialize in emergency medicine.
- A valid license to practice veterinary medicine and DEA registration.
- The ability to work in a noisy environment, stand for prolonged periods, and lift up to 25 kg.
- An ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- The ability to work effectively in a diverse team setting.
