About the role
VEG was founded in 2014 with a mission to improve the emergency veterinary experience. Since then, VEG has grown to offer 24/7, 365-day-a-year emergency services across multiple locations, enhancing both the experience for people and their pets and the careers of its employees.
THE PROGRAM
The VEG New ER Doctor (NERD) program is designed to transform practicing non-emergency veterinarians into exceptional emergency medicine specialists. This six-month immersive program includes hands-on learning, mentorship, and extensive continuing education (CE) opportunities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Work closely with experienced VEG doctors to gain hands-on ER experience.
- Attend weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and hands-on training sessions.
- Learn best practices for client-centered communication and care.
- Participate in over 160 RACE-approved CE hours during the program.
WHAT YOU NEED
- A passion for helping people and their pets.
- A valid DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
- At least one year of practice as a veterinarian.
- A commitment to emergency medicine and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
- An ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- An understanding of the importance of empathy, humility, and continuous learning.
