About the Role
Develop and execute territory sales strategies focused on new business acquisition and revenue growth within the New England market.
Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and secure new retail, distribution, and business accounts.
- Generate new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, market research, industry events, and in-person sales.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation through closing, account implementation, and ongoing account development.
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline and consistently pursue new business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with retailers, distributors, regional chains, independent retailers, and other business partners.
- Conduct regular customer and prospect visits throughout the assigned territory.
- Deliver effective sales presentations and communicate product and service value to prospective customers.
- Negotiate pricing, programs, contracts, and other business terms.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful account setup, implementation, and customer support.
- Maintain accurate CRM records of customer interactions, sales opportunities, pipeline activity, and account information.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify additional growth opportunities.
- Prepare sales reports, pipeline updates, and revenue forecasts.
- Expand existing accounts through additional products, programs, and business opportunities.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and industry events.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in outside sales, business development, territory management, or new account acquisition.
- Proven track record of developing territories and successfully closing new business.
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Strong prospecting, cold calling, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to independently manage a territory, sales pipeline, and multiple priorities.
- Experience working with CRM systems and standard business applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
- Ability to attend occasional company meetings, trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling greeting cards, consumer packaged goods (CPG), gifts, stationery, retail products, or similar merchandise.
- Existing relationships with retailers, distributors, regional chains, supermarkets, pharmacies, gift stores, independent retailers, or similar customers in the New England market.
- Experience developing new retail accounts and expanding existing customer relationships.
- Experience working with independent sales representatives or field merchandising teams is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
