About the role
Banner University Medical Center Phoenix (BUMCP) is a Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center that offers advanced neurovascular and interventional radiology care. This position involves performing specialized high acuity neurologic and body-focused radiographic procedures under the guidance of referring providers.
Responsibilities
- Perform prescribed specialized high acuity neurologic and body-focused radiographic procedures as directed by referring providers.
- Use independent judgment and apply learned methodologies according to established policies and procedures.
- Educate patients/families regarding procedures and treatments to be performed.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and conduct in all interactions, fostering teamwork and efficient resource use.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, ensuring high-quality images and timely interpretation.
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced imaging systems and C-arms to maintain optimal image quality and ALARA standards.
- Maintain sterile technique in complex procedural settings.
- Respond to emergent neuro and IR cases with rapid decision-making.
- Support a team committed to excellence in patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab Technologist role, or a highly motivated candidate with relevant procedural background seeking advanced training in Neuro Interventional Radiology.
- Strong preference for candidates interested in a structured training pathway into Neuro IR.
- Procedural knowledge or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn in a high-acuity environment.
- Passion for neurointerventional care and complex procedures.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated competency in neuro-interventional radiology procedures such as mechanical thrombectomy, intra-arterial thrombolysis, brain, head/neck, orbit and spine AVF, brain, head/neck and spine AVM, carotid artery, vertebral artery, and intracranial angioplasty, coil embolization, balloon-assisted coil embolization, and cerebral and spinal angiography.
- National certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by state regulatory agency if applicable.
- Advance certification by accrediting body in specialty required within 18 months of hire (and/or equivalent clinical experience for Cath Lab only).
- BLS certification.
- Two years of experience in clinical knowledge.
Skills
Skilled in preparing and managing wires, catheters, and advanced devices in real time. Anticipates physician needs during high-acuity cases. Operates and troubleshoots advanced imaging systems and C-arms. Maintains sterile technique in complex procedural settings. Demonstrates rapid decision-making in time-sensitive scenarios.
