Job Summary
Conducts surveys, inspections, and tours of client sites as required. Designs and supports network services, equipment, and devices. Assists in identifying and resolving network security issues. Prepares design documents, specifications, and test plans. Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots complex network problems.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
- Work closely with field engineers to simulate system performance and provide feedback.
- Assist senior engineers in identifying and resolving network security issues.
- Support network designs for different Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Prepare design documents, including narrative, systems, and subsystem designs.
- Write specifications, perform quality assurance, and conduct technical reviews of designs.
- Author test plans, supervise testing activities, and prepare test reports.
- Develop test fixtures and simulation devices.
- Generate standard PITCO plans and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex network problems and recommend operational efficiency improvements.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including software/hardware/firmware upgrades and security updates.
- Submit maintenance plans and provide rollback plans.
- Support team members during paid time off.
- Support hardware/software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
- Support 24/7 on-call schedule.
- Document crucial working procedures and troubleshoot network operations.
- Identify and resolve basic/moderate network/telecom issues.
- Interpret and analyze results against established benchmarks and goals.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet expectations for network tasks.
- Complete project tasks and assignments to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to team and related teams through quality and accuracy of output.
- Research available technologies and products as needed by the Operations or Project managers.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required for DoD Secret clearance.
- Education: HS Diploma with 8+ years of progressive experience, Associate's Degree with 6+ years of progressive experience, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or a related discipline with 2+ years of progressive experience.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of ITIL concepts, security issues, network concepts, technologies, tools, and philosophies, knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture, and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills, ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Behavioral Skills: Ability to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures, resourcefulness, flexibility, proactivity, solution orientation, and customer orientation.
Preferred Experience
- Reading network and connectivity schematics and plans.
- Network system startup, configuration, and calibration.
- Testing and troubleshooting.
- Use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools.
- Use of testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool).

- Network Specialist 4: $94,455 per year
- Network Engineer 2: $105,397 per year
