Job Summary

Conducts surveys, inspections, and tours of client sites as required. Designs and configures network services, equipment, and devices. Works closely with field engineers to simulate system performance and provides feedback. Assists senior engineers in identifying and resolving network security issues. Develops network designs for different service levels. Assists in preparing design documents, specifications, and test plans. Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots complex network problems, and supports a 24/7 on-call schedule. Documents network operations procedures and assists in identifying and resolving network issues. Prepares cost estimates and assists in developing project documents.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Work closely with field engineers to simulate system performance and provide feedback.
  • Assist senior network engineers in identifying and resolving network security issues.
  • Develop network designs for each service level classification.
  • Prepare design documents for small projects and support large programs.
  • Assist senior engineers in preparing narrative design documents, systems designs, subsystem designs, CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, hardware, communications, specifications, and test plans.
  • Perform QA/QC and technical reviews of designs.
  • Author test plans, leads, and supervises testing activities, author testing/commissioning procedures, prepare test reports, and commission deployed systems.
  • Generate standard PITCO plans and procedures, design and perform complete system integration tests.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex network problems and recommend operational efficiency improvements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, software/hardware/firmware upgrades, including security updates, performance upgrades, and schedule maintenance.
  • Originate and submit maintenance plans and provide role-back plans.
  • Serve as backup for team members during paid time off.
  • Support hardware/software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
  • Support a 24/7 on-call schedule.
  • Document crucial working procedures and troubleshoot network operations.
  • Absorb and apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Interpret and analyze results against established benchmarks and goals.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to define work and interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Clearance/Citizen Type: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Clearance is REQUIRED.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, IT, or Computer engineering or related fields with 2+ years of experience; Master's degree in Electrical, IT, or Computer engineering or related fields with 0+ years of experience.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of ITIL concepts, security issues and implications for network solutions, network concepts, technologies, tools, and philosophies, system development methodology, project management, system architecture, and analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills, ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients, and other network/system stakeholders, ability to establish working relationships with others outside area of expertise.
  • Behavioral Skills: Must be able to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures and demanding environment, must be a resourceful self-starter, flexible, proactive, solution-oriented, and customer-oriented.

Preferred Experience

  • Reading network and connectivity schematics and plans.
  • Network system startup, configuration, and calibration.
  • Testing and troubleshooting.
  • Use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools.
  • Use of testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool).

Tools/Software

  • Ticketing and monitoring toolsets.
  • Knowledge of one or more IT/Network platforms, such as Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista.
  • Standard Network Software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc).
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity and STIG applications to network systems.

Abilities
