Job Summary

Conducts surveys, inspections, and tours of client sites as required. Designs, installs, configures, and maintains network services, equipment, and devices. Works closely with field engineers to simulate system performance and provides feedback on potential improvements. Assists senior engineers in identifying and resolving network security issues. Develops network designs for each service level agreement (SLA) classification. Prepares design documents for small projects and supports large programs. Assists senior engineers in preparing narrative design documents, systems designs, subsystem designs, CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, hardware, communications, specifications, QA/QC, and technical reviews. Authors test plans, leads/testing activities, prepares test reports, and performs commissioning of deployed systems. Develops test fixtures and simulation devices. Generates standard PITCO plans and procedures. Performs system integration tests. Troubleshoots and debugs complex network problems and recommends operational efficiency improvements. Performs preventative maintenance, including software/hardware/firmware upgrades, security updates, performance upgrades, and schedule maintenance. Origins and submits maintenance plans and provides rollback plans. Serves as backup for team members during paid time off. Supports 24/7 on-call schedule. Documents crucial working procedures and troubleshoots network operations. Assists team members in resolving basic/moderate network/telecom issues. Interprets and analyzes results against established benchmarks and goals. Works with project managers to meet expectations for network tasks. Completes project tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines. Contributes to team and related teams through quality and accuracy of output. Performs research on available technologies and products as needed by Operations or Project managers. Prepares cost estimates and supporting documents for projects. Assists senior engineers in preparing bids and proposals, including cost estimates and supporting documentation. Prices change orders. Develops and adapts documents, procedures, and formal processes for the Network Engineering team members to accomplish Company project planning (PKOM's and gate checks). Collaborates with other disciplines to define work and interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Clearance/Citizen Type: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Clearance is REQUIRED
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or a related discipline and 2+ years of progressive experience
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of ITIL concepts, understanding of security issues and implications for network solutions, knowledge of network concepts, technologies, tools, and philosophies, knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture, and analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills, ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients, and other network/system stakeholders, ability to establish working relationships with others outside area of expertise
  • Behavioral Skills: Ability to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures in a demanding environment, resourcefulness, flexibility, proactivity, solution orientation, and customer orientation
  • Preferred Experience: Reading network and connectivity schematics and plans, network system startup, configuration, and calibration, testing and troubleshooting, use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools, use of testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool)
  • Abilities: Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time, sitting for extended periods of time, reaching by extending hands or arms in any direction, having finger dexterity for manipulating objects, listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, communicating information and ideas in speaking so others will understand, reading and understanding information and ideas presented in writing, applying general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense, identifying and understanding the speech of another person

Skills

  • Knowledge of one or more IT/Network platforms, such as Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista
  • Standard Network Software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc)
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity and STIG applications to network systems
