About the role

Responsible for conducting surveys, inspections, and tours at client sites as required. Designs and supports network services, equipment, and devices. Assists in identifying and resolving network security issues, and prepares designs, specifications, and test plans. Supports preventative maintenance and performs hardware/software upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Work closely with field engineers to simulate system performance and provide feedback.
  • Assist senior engineers in identifying and resolving network security issues.
  • Support network designs for different service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Prepare design documents, including narrative design documents, systems designs, subsystem designs, CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, hardware, communications, specifications, and perform QA/QC and technical reviews.
  • Author test plans, prepare test reports, and commission deployed systems.
  • Develop test fixtures and simulation devices.
  • Generate standard PITCO plans and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex network problems and recommend operational efficiency improvements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including software/hardware/firmware upgrades, security updates, performance upgrades, and schedule maintenance.
  • Originates and submits maintenance plans and provides rollback plans.
  • Serve as backup for team members during paid time off.
  • Perform hardware/software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
  • Document crucial working procedures and troubleshoot network operations.
  • Interpret and analyze results against established benchmarks and goals.
  • Contribute to team efforts through quality and accuracy of output.
  • Lead and build a business with support from an industry-leading firm.

Requirements

  • Clearance/Citizen Type: Applicants must have a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Education: High School Diploma with 8+ years of progressive experience, or Associate's Degree with 6+ years of progressive experience, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or a related discipline with 2+ years of progressive experience.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of ITIL concepts, security issues, network concepts, technologies, tools, and philosophies, knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture, and analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills, ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Behavioral Skills: Ability to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures, resourcefulness, flexibility, proactivity, solution orientation, and customer orientation.

Qualifications

  • Reading network and connectivity schematics and plans.
  • Network system startup, configuration, and calibration.
  • Testing and troubleshooting.
  • Use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools.
  • Use of testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool).
  • Knowledge of one or more IT/Network platforms such as Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista.
  • Standard Network Software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and STIG applications to network systems.

  • Network Engineer 2 - $115,150 per year
  • Network Engineer 3 - $125,577 per year
  • Network Specialist 4 - $105,497 per year
  • Network Technician 2 - $81,635 per year
  • Network Engineer 4 - $125,780 per year
