Network Security Lead (INFOSEC) - Office of the Chief Information Officer

About the role

The Security Operations & Engineering Division provides real-time operational security through SOC and enterprise network security capabilities. This position may fill additional vacancies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate modern network infrastructure capabilities (e.g., Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP), Software-Defined Networks (SDN)).
• Analyze the customer’s current network architecture in conjunction with Zero Trust assessment findings to recommend future-state network architecture design for the agency.
• Assist in implementing system security requirements for both internal and external networks, as well as multi-cloud environments.
• Provide support and guidance in constructing, designing, integrating, and configuring cybersecurity and network monitoring.
• Provide expert advice to the Director of Division and represent the Division and OCIO in meetings with other GSA entities, industry, other agencies, and public organizations to resolve problems, develop joint policies/standards, analyze and implement IT security products/services/solutions, and exchange technical expertise.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island).
• Meet all eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date.
• Register with Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959.
• Current or former political appointees must disclose their status to the HR Office; failure to do so may result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service.
• Serve a one-year probationary period, if required.
• Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 2 investigation level).

Qualifications

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service, demonstrating each of the following competencies:

Specialized Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, including:

• Applying advanced network and cybersecurity concepts—including Zero Trust and modern software-defined architectures—to analyze, design, and modernize large-scale enterprise networks.
• Implementing complex security requirements across internal, external, and multi-cloud environments and integrating cybersecurity monitoring and management tools.
• Providing authoritative technical guidance to senior leadership and collaborating with cross-functional partners to resolve complex security and architecture challenges.

Pay

The GS-14 salary range starts at $127,829 per year and varies based on duty location. New federal employees are typically set at Step 1 of the grade for which they are selected.
