Network Security Lead (INFOSEC) - Office of the Chief Information Officer

About the role

The Security Operations & Engineering Division is responsible for providing real-time operational security through SOC and enterprise network security capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate modern network infrastructure capabilities (i.e., Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP), Software-Defined Networks (SDN), etc.).
• Work with a team to analyze the customer’s current network architecture in conjunction with Zero Trust assessment findings to recommend future-state network architecture design for the agency.
• Provide assistance in implementing system security requirements for both internal and external networks, as well as multi-cloud environments.
• Provide support and guidance in constructing, designing, integrating, and configuring cybersecurity and network monitoring.
• Provide expert advice to the Director of Division. Represent the Division and OCIO in meetings with other GSA entities; and GSA in meetings with representatives of industry, other agencies, public organizations, etc., to resolve problems, develop joint policies/standards; analyze, select and implement IT security products/services/solutions; and exchange information regarding areas of technical expertise.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island).
• Meet all eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date.
• Register with Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959.
• If selected, you must:
  • Meet conditions for current or former political appointees (Office of Personnel Management must authorize employment offers).
  • Serve a one-year probationary period, if required.
  • Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 2 investigation level).
  • Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee (via the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system).

Qualifications

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service and have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the nine competencies below:

Specialized Experience: In addition to the basic requirements, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service, defined as:

• Applying advanced network and cybersecurity concepts—including Zero Trust and modern software-defined architectures—to analyze, design, and modernize large-scale enterprise networks.
• Implementing complex security requirements across internal, external, and multi-cloud environments and integrating cybersecurity monitoring and management tools.
• Providing authoritative technical guidance to senior leadership and collaborating with cross-functional partners to resolve complex security and architecture challenges.

Pay

The GS-14 salary range starts at $127,829 per year and varies based on duty location. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
