About the role

AWS seeks a highly motivated, top-tier Network Engineers for the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Network Scaling and Deployment team. This critical role will drive the expansion of AWS's next-generation IP network infrastructure, innovating in network automation and cloud networking technologies to build highly available, secure, and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the planing and delivery of network scaling and network build projects, including high-level (HLD) and low-level (LLD) reviews, bill of materials review, and defining and executing the overall scaling strategy and implementation plans for AWS's ADC regions.
  • You'll also:
    • Maintain Amazon Web Services’ next generation networks for significant AWS customers by providing critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact, and resolve large-scale networking events.
    • Troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configurations issues; including necessary low level application interaction, Unix systems, and new age networking software tools.
    • Lead network projects in the areas of network sustaining engineering, network deployment/implementation, network scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
    • Drive and support innovation from Top of Rack to the Network Core and everything in between.
    • Partner with our broader Network/Infrastructure organization in the areas of network engineering, configurations standards, and tools.
    • Work closely with our Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, as well as assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
    • Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure that we are fully compliant to those standards and policies.
    • Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
    • Collaborate with highest tier escalation engineers/resolvers.
    • Create and review documentation and process regarding network implementation/deployments, recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.

About the team

AWS ADC Networking (Amazon Dedicate Cloud) owns datacenter network services that provide unconstrained connectivity to dedicated US Government customers. They own the networks end to end, including scaling, design, and operational functions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CFR (CyberSec First Responder) or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, to include HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • Experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies
  • Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
  • Experience scripting in one or more language (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby), or experience in Unix
  • A detail-oriented team player with excellent analytical skills. Adept at collaborating seamlessly with immediate and extended teams, prioritizing collective success above individual interests. Thrives in fast-paced environments by leveraging effective prioritization and time management capabilities.
