Neonatologist - Full Time - Waterbury, CT

About the role

Connecticut Children’s Division of Neonatology has an opening for full-time, Board Certified/Board Eligible neonatologists to provide patient care at our 10-bed Level II NICU and well-baby nursery at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT. The unit supports approximately 1,100 births per year and is part of a state-wide transport service for infants requiring more advanced care. Coverage includes 24/7 advanced practitioners with at-home neonatology call.

Waterbury, known as “The Brass City,” is a Naugatuck River town of approximately 110,000 located 90 miles northeast of New York City, with easy access to the UCONN School of Medicine, downtown Hartford, and Connecticut Children’s.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history and conducting physical examinations to gather objective data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.
• Formulate differential diagnoses and develop evidence-based treatment plans, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and make appropriate referrals.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of patient interventions, including initial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and all other patient interactions (e.g., telephone calls).
• Collaborate with nursing, support personnel, and administration to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
• Ensure proper handoff communications and protection of patient rights.
• Teach medical students, pediatric residents, and neonatal fellows.
• Initiate and/or participate in research or other scholarly activities, with an active scholarly program and publication history desirable.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree required.
• Active Connecticut Physician license and DEA certification.
• Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
