Academic Neonatologist - Full Time - Hartford & Farmington, CT
About the role
The Division of Neonatology at Connecticut Children’s is seeking an experienced, full-time, Board Certified/Board Eligible neonatologist with an established academic focus in clinical, basic, translational, or educational research. Current areas of interest include inflammation/microbiome, epidemiology/outcomes, AI, neurosciences, and lung development/lung injury. Applicants with other areas of interest are also encouraged to apply. Research support is commensurate with experience and current or potential extramural funding.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
- Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.
- Formulate a differential diagnosis and develops a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and making appropriate referrals as indicated.
- Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes and any other patient interactions, to include telephone calls.
- Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.
- Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents and neonatal fellows.
- Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.
Qualifications
- Education Required: M.D., or D.O. degree required.
- E stablished area of focus in research, quality improvement, or education which is demonstrated by ongoing publications and/or funding.
- LICENSE And/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Active CT Physician license, Active DEA Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine as appropriate.
