About the role
The Division of Neonatology at Connecticut Children’s has an opening for an experienced, full-time, Board Certified/Board Eligible neonatologist with an established interest in neurodevelopmental follow-up. Clinical duties include caring for infants in our NICUs at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford and John Dempsey Hospital, University of Connecticut in Farmington.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
- Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.
- Formulate a differential diagnosis and develop a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and make appropriate referrals as indicated.
- Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes, and any other patient interactions, including telephone calls.
- Collaborate with nursing, support personnel, and administration in matters affecting patient care.
- Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure appropriate handoff communications are accomplished.
- Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and neonatal fellows.
- Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.
Qualifications
- Education Required: M.D., or D.O. degree required.
- Active Scholarly Program with publication history is desirable.
- Licenses and Certifications Required: Active CT Physician license and Active DEA Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine as appropriate.
