About the role
The Neonatal Respiratory Therapists attend high risk deliveries and neonatal transport. They conduct procedures, monitor patients on continuous ventilator support, perform CPR, provide appropriate oxygen therapy, perform bronchodilator therapy, and manage respiratory care equipment.
Responsibilities
- Attend high risk deliveries and neonatal transport
- Conduct procedures including humidity and aerosol therapy, lung inflation maneuvers, and pulmonary secretion clearance methods
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment
- Monitor patients on continuous mechanical support and recommend changes based on clinical status
- Perform invasive and noninvasive monitoring and diagnostic techniques on NICU patients
- Care for infants requiring respiratory support such as oxygen, ventilation, and medications
- Manage respiratory therapy equipment
- Perform blood gas analysis
- Provide neonatal resuscitation and assist with intubation
- Assist with special procedures
Requirements
- Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP)
- BLS/CPR or BART certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date
- Previous directly related experience in a large, complex healthcare setting
Qualifications
Current UCSD experience preferred. Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) certification is preferred. Previous experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in the NICU is preferred. Experience performing invasive and noninvasive monitoring and diagnostic techniques on NICU patients is preferred. Experience working in the Delivery Room is preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of respiratory care protocols, ability to evaluate therapy outcomes, and proficiency in using respiratory care equipment.

$101,602 - $126,366 annually (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%)
