Neonatal Program Coordinator

About the Role

The Neonatal Program Coordinator creates, develops, and implements specialized clinical practice in neonatology. Serves as a clinical resource person in the NICU and as a liaison throughout the facility and community regarding services for this unique patient population. Builds collaborative relationships with other Neonatal Program Coordinators within the Perinatal Care Region.

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU clinical experience
• Monitor the provision of neonatal patient care services from admission, stabilization, and through discharge
• Oversight of the NICU Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
• Collaborate with Neonatal Medical Director on policies, procedures, guidelines, and the QAPI program
• Collaborate with NICU Nurse Educator and NICU Manager to assure staff competency, education, and training
• Chair the neonatal QAPI multidisciplinary meeting; present monthly statistics and quality improvements
• Implement and maintain Hospital Level of Care Designations for Neonatal Care as per Texas state law
• Develop collaborative relationships with other Neonatal Program Managers within the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council’s Perinatal Committee
• Ensure ongoing family-centered care practices
• Data mining to ensure quality in the perinatal program
• Develop grand rounds to facilitate family-centered care
• Develop education and outreach programs
• Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate communication skills for all patient populations served
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Instructor certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
• Neonate Resuscitate certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
• STABLE certification (must be obtained within 60 days of employment)
• NTD Cardiac Stable Module (must be obtained within 18 months of employment)
• Cardiac STABLE certification (must be obtained within 18 months of hire; no renewal required)
• Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) certification
• 3 years of experience in a relevant role
