What is the work?

  • Case Management including:
    • building ongoing relationships with clients
    • supporting clients in reaching financial stability through financial review and budgeting
    • helping clients navigate crises
    • empowering clients to create and follow plans to reach personal goals and improve stability
  • Information and referral: Respond to the needs of clients with a trauma-informed approach and facilitate their connection to internal and external programs and resources. Assist residents to respond to crises. Work with residents to assess needs and provide information and connections to resources to meet their needs.
  • Neighborhood Program administration including continuous learning about resources and best practices related to housing-based services. Supporting the coordination of assigned youth programs. Work within the NP team to welcome new residents, assess community needs and promote positive resident/community involvement. Coordination with property management. Volunteer support. Administer rent assistance programs. Assess clients’ need for short-term rent assistance as a tool for increasing long-term stability. Determine eligibility and collect required documentation. Work with clients to make rent assistance plans and monitor progress. Facilitate rent payment requests and engage with property managers.

Required Work Experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in a social services or educational setting
  • Experience providing case management services to individuals and families
  • Thorough understanding of the case management process
  • General working knowledge of human service, support, and educational providers
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and within a team
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain a steady, calm approach to work during busy times

Preferred Work Experience

  • 2+ years of experience providing case management services to individuals and families
  • Social Work license
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali, or Russian
