About the role

ATS is seeking Level II UTSW Technicians for a shipyard contract assignment near Charleston, SC. This is a contract position with steady work and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform NDT examinations of materials in accordance with NAVSEA procedures, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Set up and utilize NDT Testing Equipment.
  • Exercise assigned responsibility for OJT and guidance of trainees.
  • Interface with department managers and clients to determine scope of work and work priorities.
  • Prepare written instructions and organize and report the results of examinations.
  • Work independently and support team members.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Actively participate in ATS and Client Safety Programs.

Requirements

  • Meet the minimum requirements of an NDT Level II UTSW Technician.
  • Provide documentation of education, training, and experience in the applicable NDT method(s).
  • Certification of Completion of UT Level I and UT Level II/UTSW Level II Classroom training meeting SNT-TC-1A.
  • Documented On the Job Training signed by an SNT-TC-1A Level III or Supervisor.
  • NAVSEA and/or shipyard work experience preferred.
  • Additional NDT certs (VT/MT) are a plus but not required.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass an extensive background check for access to the shipyard.
  • Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees).

Skills

  • Working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other departments and customers to report issues and solve problems.

Work Conditions

  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required for personal protection.
  • Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
  • Work in confined spaces requiring crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
  • Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.
  • Work shifts up to 12 hours/day and 7 days/week.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.

Pay

$55/hour plus per diem at current GSA rates.

Benefits

This is a temporary contract position and is not immediately eligible for ATS full-time employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, vacation, personal time, and bonuses).
