Navy/Maritime Division Growth Lead

About the role
The Navy/Maritime Division Growth Lead will partner with D&I operations leadership and Navy/Maritime Account Executive(s) to develop and refine the growth strategy, meeting or exceeding divisional and business unit growth objectives. The ideal candidate brings an in-depth understanding of end-to-end business development and capture processes, existing Department of the Navy (DoN) and Navy/USMC customer relationships, and a strong network of industry and government decision-makers. This role reports directly to the Vice President of D&I Growth and Strategy and focuses on cross-company collaboration, pipeline development, execution, and reporting to drive growth.
The division lead will develop strategy in collaboration with operations units and execute it to meet growth objectives, building customer intimacy and identifying unmet needs within the US Navy/Maritime, USMC, and related government organizations. Responsibilities include effective resourcing of growth personnel, opportunity progression, milestone discipline, and capture execution rigor.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of growth plans in alignment with D&I strategic business goals, working with the Operations Lead and Navy/Maritime Account Executive.
- Identify key business and technology growth areas, developing new business aligned with the company’s strategic growth plan.
- Maintain an accurate, defendable Salesforce pipeline with timely updates and meaningful weekly activity reports.
- Drive collaboration across Growth, Operations, Solution Architecture, Proposal Services, and Functional teams.
- Manage a team of Business Development (BD) and Capture resources to meet divisional growth strategy and metrics.
- Develop internal cross-organizational relationships to drive new growth through collaboration across divisions and business units.
- Mentor and develop Capture Managers, reinforcing consistent capture processes and ensuring team accountability.
- Lead and support opportunity shaping activities, including customer engagement planning, solutioning, and win strategy development.
- Assign, balance, and adjust Capture Manager resources across the portfolio to support the Maritime and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) pipeline.
- Ensure opportunities progress through milestones with discipline, enabling early, informed bid/no-bid decisions.
- Support and participate in milestone reviews, color team reviews, and proposal readiness assessments.
- Act as a senior capture leader, directly supporting or leading key pursuits when required.
- Partner with Operations leadership to ensure pursuits are executable and transition smoothly from capture to delivery.
- Manage "keep-it-sold" activities to protect the base initiative.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to identify objectives, priorities, and requirements, positioning KBR as an innovative thought leader.
- Maintain strong industry relations with large and small businesses in assigned markets.
- Leverage a strong understanding of DoN, Navy/Maritime, and USMC markets, including relevant organizational relationships and senior-level customer connections.
- Apply knowledge of government contracting, acquisition trends, customer buying behaviors, and competitor analysis.
- Demonstrate strong team-building and facilitation skills, exceptional written and oral communication, and experience presenting at the executive level.
- Work effectively with geographically dispersed teams.
Requirements
- Top Secret clearance; SCI eligibility required.
- Minimum 15 years of experience with demonstrated success in business development and capture of contracts valued greater than $250M.
- Proven ability to work with senior business and government leaders and provide leadership within the workplace.
- Working knowledge and experience within a mature, industry-leading capture organization.
- Ability to drive profitable financial outcomes on each capture, with demonstrated understanding of corporate indirect rates and LOE/BOE development.
- Proven success in strategy development, business development, capture management, program management, science and engineering programs, Intel programs, acquisition processes, and opportunity identification/qualification.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in services-centric organizations to develop, organize, and execute significant capture activities, including building industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or a science-related curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Navy/Maritime, USMC, Navy PAE structure, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, NAVWAR, and/or joint organizations.
- Experience managing and mentoring Capture Managers.
- Master’s degree in business, science, engineering, or a related field.
- 20+ years of experience supporting DoN with an understanding of the full lifecycle of growth-related activities.
Pay
Basic compensation ranges:
- $222,000.00 - $332,000.00 (Virginia area only).
- $212,000.00 - $318,000.00 (California area only).
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience, and in consideration of internal parity. Additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, sign-on bonuses, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
Schedule
- Location: Hybrid. Candidates in the National Capital Region (NCR) and San Diego, CA are preferred, but other locations will be considered.
- Travel: Moderate (20-50%).
- Working Hours: Standard. Occasional work outside normal business hours based on organizational needs and proposal deadlines.
