Navajo Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Navajo-English phone interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate and concise interpretations of conversations between Navajo and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Concentrate, stay detached, and remain neutral during sensitive calls.
• Understand and follow protocol and terminology for various industries.
• Provide cultural sensitivity and handle emotionally charged or stressful calls.

Requirements

• Fluency in Navajo and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate and remain detached during sensitive calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.
• Age 18 or older.
• Legal authorization to work in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write both languages highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
• Access to a quiet space with a reliable internet connection.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of operating systems.
• Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse.
• Ability to lift up to 26 lbs.

Pay

$0.75 - $0.90 per minute.
