Nativity Youth Director

We are seeking a Youth Director to act as a bridge between individual youth groups and the parish, overseeing the successful planning and execution of programs to maximize enrichment in the faith life of our youth. This role reports to the Pastor and works directly with group leaders in conjunction with the Director of Religious Education (DRE).

About the Role

The Youth Director has two main goals:

• Lead the Teen Group
• Oversee other Nativity Youth Groups

Responsibilities

Oversee All Youth Groups

• Supervise youth groups including Blue Knights, Little Flowers, Fidelis, Fraternus, and Teen Group
• Meet with leaders at the start of each year to discuss fundraising, advertising, and annual plans
• Receive monthly reports from leaders to present at Parish Council meetings and attend these meetings
• Ensure advertising is distributed and assist groups in maximizing their potential and membership
• Facilitate communication between groups and the church
• Coordinate retreat activities with the DRE
• Encourage participation from the Latino community in all groups
• Foster communication between external groups (neighboring churches)
• Help create a Middle School Youth Group for 6th–8th graders

Note: The Youth Director will not run Fraternus, Fidelis, Little Flowers, or Blue Knights but will assist with recruitment, communication, and overall success.

Lead the Teen Group

• Organize, facilitate, and attend Sunday evening and Wednesday night Youth Group activities, including faith-based studies (e.g., incorruptible saints, Bible enrichment, evangelism) decided by the group
• Plan and lead large and small group activities
• Organize quarterly service projects
• Engage and recruit adult volunteers, fostering community among them
• Manage the Youth social media accounts (Instagram)
• Communicate weekly updates to the Communications Director for inclusion in the bulletin, Flocknote, monitors, and altar announcements
• Assist with planning and executing fundraisers for the Teen Group
• Serve as an example and train youth volunteers to serve in the church
• Assist with Confirmation retreats
• Connect Nativity Youth with Diocesan activities and camps (e.g., Search, Youth 2000)
• Work with the DRE to design and implement a Theology of the Body (TOB) program for teens and parents
• Assist with Vacation Bible School (VBS), planning and leading the teen portion in conjunction with other age levels
• Attend monthly Professional Development Meetings at the Pastoral Center when possible
