National Sales Director, Hematology

About the role
The National Sales Director for the Hematology Therapeutic Area will serve as the national sales leader responsible for planning, organizing, and directing sales activities and strategies to ensure effective, compliant promotion of Jazz Pharmaceuticals products to physicians and other healthcare providers. This role is a core member of the Hematology cross-functional leadership team and oversees a team of Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and Oncology Account Managers (OAMs).
Responsibilities
- Follow and uphold all laws, regulations, and policies governing Jazz personnel activities without compromising ethics or integrity.
- Demonstrate leadership skills that instill trust, value differences, execute through teams, drive accountability, provide and receive feedback, and develop talent.
- Serve as an integral member of the Jazz Oncology Franchise leadership team.
- Lead the Hematology sales team to achieve or exceed sales goals:
- Play a leadership role in developing and implementing brand strategies and tactics.
- Facilitate portfolio growth by aligning team performance with strategic drivers for each brand.
- Drive accountability by setting clear performance expectations, managing execution, and ensuring timely course corrections.
- Identify and cultivate business relationships with key accounts and opinion leaders.
- Inform the development and communication of annual incentive compensation programs and sales contests.
- Lead the development of the annual sales budget and manage quarterly and annual expense budgets.
- Reinforce a culture of connection, continuous learning, and development:
- Identify and develop team capabilities to meet evolving healthcare needs.
- Develop leadership and management skills of RSMs and create action plans for individual development.
- Conduct and oversee regular performance reviews and field contact reports.
- Recognize, celebrate, and reward exceptional performance; take timely personnel actions to maintain excellence.
- Conduct regular OAM field contacts to ensure field messaging compliance and success.
- Oversee managerial excellence in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring, ensuring diverse candidate pools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (marketing, training, medical affairs, market access, commercial operations, HR) to plan and execute shared strategies.
- Foster a purpose- and values-driven culture with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical device, biotech, or rare disease industry.
- 2+ years of successful field sales leadership in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry; oncology or hematology experience preferred.
- Experience overseeing and leading managers of field-based teams is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of account management or institutional (hospital/IDN) selling.
- Experience leading teams through change and building high-performing cultures.
- Experience in Marketing, Market Access, Training, Health Systems, or Business Operations is a plus.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Physical Demands
- Position is remote but requires attendance at meetings in Palo Alto, Carlsbad, Philadelphia, and other field locations; proximity to a major airport hub in the Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific Time Zones is preferred.
- Routinely sitting for extended periods; occasional mobility within an office environment.
- Constant operation of computers, printers, telephones, and other office machinery.
- Up to 50% travel is required.
Work Environment
- Indoor, remote office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, or temperature changes.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation; occasional movement between work locations.
- Work schedule may include hours outside of normal business demands; occasional public contact requiring appropriate business attire.
Pay
The full and complete base pay range for this role is $240,000.00 - $360,000.00. Individual compensation within this range depends on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. This range is reviewed regularly to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with expertise and contributions.
