About the role

The National Customer Business Manager (NCBM) reports to the Director of Sales and is responsible for managing the sale of company products, market development, customer relationships, and broker management for assigned ADUSA retailers, including Stop & Shop, Giant Foods, The Giant Company, Hannaford, and Food Lion. As a key member of the CP sales team, the NCBM drives sales objectives and profitability. The position is based on the East Coast, preferably between Boston and Charlotte, within proximity of a major US airport and driving distance of one of the five ADUSA brand headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve dollar volume, profitability, P&L contribution, and related financial performance objectives for assigned market or account base.
  • Achieve account share growth and penetration goals for assigned market or account base.
  • Make headquarter calls to identify new business opportunities, establish new customer relationships, and deepen existing relationships to support short- and long-term corporate strategies.
  • Plan, forecast, analyze, and modify business plans to achieve annual objectives, ensuring sell-in and accurate execution of innovation and growth initiatives.
  • Support corporate planning, analysis, and budgetary processes to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop 1–3 year sales plans for the market or account base to support corporate planning and budgeting.
  • Develop and implement strategic merchandising plans to support annual objectives and maintain Sargento’s merchandising Standards of Excellence.
  • Manage broker relationships with business or account managers, team leaders, general managers, and broker support teams to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external cross-functional relationships to achieve business objectives in alignment with Sargento’s culture.
  • Plan and execute programs, including trade management and financial accountability, within budget objectives and system standards.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and strategically engage all decision-making levels across assigned retailers.
  • Continuously review the market and account base to identify opportunities, competitive threats, or innovative ways to meet customer needs and achieve corporate objectives.
  • Share market trends and opportunities to allocate appropriate corporate resources.
  • Travel overnight approximately 25–30% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 5+ years of consumer products experience.
  • Customer headquarter sales experience required.
  • Broker management experience preferred.
  • Experience calling on ADUSA strongly preferred.
  • Advanced experience using syndicated data and/or proprietary customer data to drive strategic recommendations and annual business planning.
  • Advanced experience partnering with Demand & Supply planning to ensure forecast accuracy and avoid supply disruption.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with individuals or groups at varying levels of knowledge.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage overlapping or conflicting priorities.
  • Potential to progress to a Team Leader or similar position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
