National Broker Territory Manager - REMOTE
About the role
The National Broker Territory Manager will play a critical role in developing and executing strategies to enhance relationships with national brokers operating coast to coast, ensuring their success and driving business growth. This leadership position requires strategic thinking, relationship management, entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep understanding of our products and service offerings.
As a key member of the National Broker Distribution Team, this individual will partner with underwriting, claims, risk control, marketing, and business leadership to identify growth opportunities, strengthen market positioning, and translate strategic priorities into production outcomes. This role includes accountability for attaining profit, growth, and producer recruitment and management goals for a book of business. The manager will provide competitor and regulatory information to market teams and management to ensure continued profitability, competitiveness, and product innovation, while serving as a portal to Church Mutual products, markets, and services.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned national brokers.
- Create a business plan incorporating specific broker/producer plans, measure outcomes of strategic tactics, and identify target prospects.
- Monitor business plan, including performing operational reviews.
- Build a prospect inventory.
- Formulate and implement comprehensive strategies with each national broker to optimize performance and increase market share.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics.
- Gather, reconcile, interrogate, and analyze data across multiple platforms to prepare periodic performance reports.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align broker management strategies with overall business objectives.
- Partner with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into actionable, measurable distribution plans.
- Analyze performance data and develop actionable insights to continuously improve broker relationships and business outcomes.
- Regularly assess and present broker performance metrics.
- Manage new business results to exceed established metrics (e.g., quote/yield/bind ratios).
- Identify areas for improvement and implement initiatives to enhance broker productivity and efficiency.
- Maintain a strong industry network and serve as a trusted advisor on broker and market-related matters.
- Coordinate visits and conduct working sessions with national broker teams, leveraging producer management for cross-selling opportunities.
- Align underwriting teams to connect nationally across each national broker.
- Serve as a portal to Church Mutual products and services, effectively communicating the organization's capabilities to national broker offices.
- Understand and sell Church Mutual to producers, including the capabilities and products within the Church Mutual Centers of Excellence.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in the insurance industry, including distribution management, underwriting, and/or risk management.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing distribution strategies that drive profitable growth at national and/or regional scale.
- Extensive experience managing strategic broker relationships at both national and regional levels, including engagement with senior broker executives.
- Experience representing an organization at industry forums, conferences, and external market engagements.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate and influence at the C-suite level.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience utilizing data and analytics to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Evidence of strong technical understanding of commercial insurance as well as a thorough understanding of marketing and underwriting, financial analysis capabilities, and customer service skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or years of experience is required.
- Professional designation(s) preferred (i.e., CPCU, CIC, CRM, AIC, ARM).
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
- Demonstrated skills in relationship building, decision making, negotiation, and communication, including effective listening, organizational skills, problem solving, and business acumen.
- Confident and highly motivated individual who is willing to travel to assigned brokers.
- Demonstrated initiative in responding to competitive situations and commitment to achievement of business goals and objectives.
- Experience in sales and/or marketing with a sound technical knowledge in product knowledge, exposure and financial analysis, pricing and selection, corporate systems, and PC knowledge.
- Significant travel required.
