Candidates should be comfortable attending a face-to-face (F2F) client interview. The team is open to considering profiles of candidates who are willing to relocate from Day 1 and can attend an F2F interview at the nearest office. This role requires working onsite in New Jersey.
About the Role
The MySQL Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining MySQL environments. They will handle schema management, indexing, and optimizing database performance. The role includes managing MySQL replication and high-availability setups, performing recovery operations, and ensuring data integrity. Participation in on-call rotation for production incidents is also required.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Redis, and PostgreSQL databases in both on-premises and AWS environments.
- Manage replication solutions for each database based on application requirements to ensure high availability.
- Administer and optimize AWS managed database services (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, EC2).
- Automate routine tasks and infrastructure setup using tools like Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
- Design and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems (CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, MonYog) to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and apply optimizations or fixes.
- Perform daily maintenance, health checks, and capacity planning to ensure database reliability across all environments.
- Collaborate with application developers to design efficient schemas, optimize complex queries, and enhance database performance.
- Work closely with DevSecOps to ensure timely application of security patches and upgrades.
- Develop and manage robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure minimal data loss and downtime.
- Generate ad-hoc reports and provide insights as requested by internal teams or stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6-8 years of experience with MySQL databases, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in Linux administration for troubleshooting and server management.
- Experience with performance tuning and backup/recovery processes.
- Familiarity with MySQL internals and storage engines.
- Strong hands-on experience with shell scripting or Python.
Skills
- Essential: MySQL, Linux administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, shell scripting, Python.
- Preferred: AWS cloud services, monitoring tools (Grafana, CloudWatch), DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Advantageous: NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
