Description

The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Part-Time Music Therapist to join our team. This position provides therapeutic music services to pediatric patients and their families, using music-based interventions to support emotional expression, developmental growth, coping skills, and overall quality of life. This role works collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams to enhance the patient and family experience through individualized and group music therapy sessions. This part-time position will work Tuesday and Thursday each week working 8-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 1 year of experience.
    • Successful completion of an accredited training program in Creative and Expressive Art Therapists (CEAT) modality, such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy, Yoga Therapy or Master’s degree preferred.
    • Board Certified Music therapist (MT-BC) preferred.
    • Experience working with pediatric and medically complex populations preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Functional Requirements

  • Partially active and partially sedentary position must be physically able to access the patients in the units and able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and occasionally lift, or carry up to 10-40lbs as required to access file boxes, supplies, etc.
  • Able to move throughout the facility and interact directly with pediatric patients.
  • Able to transport and set up music therapy equipment and instruments.
  • Able to respond appropriately in dynamic patient care environments.
  • Able to interact and communicate in a professional and courteous manner with other staff and guests.
  • Manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and telephone systems, and other typical office equipment.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle and/or access other means of transportation in order to travel locally for business related to The Children’s Home.
