Responsibilities
- Affords assistance in developing new and stimulating activities within the specialty area/s.
- Encourages and coordinates Resident involvement in these activities.
- Assists Residents in adjusting to a new lifestyle concept and maintaining their previous interests, hobbies, and activities.
- Prepares, prints, and distributes monthly calendars, newsletters, and memos to Residents.
- Facilitates and leads planned activities independently, managing parallel programming/activities when others are leading programs.
- Engages with residents in small groups or one-on-one programs during unscheduled times.
- Cultivates positive social engagement among both colleagues and residents.
- Becomes proficient with audio/visual equipment such as DVD/VCR, amplifiers, tape decks, microphones, and sound systems.
- Collects and categorizes Resident monies for special activities or events.
- Uses knowledge of Residents' backgrounds, hobbies, special interests, and languages to encourage involvement.
- Reports on the success, Resident participation rates, and any issues encountered or preventable from each activity or assignment to the Lifestyle Director.
- Attends in-services and educational seminars to enhance understanding of dementia and recreation programs, including monthly calendar planning sessions.
- Wears company-issued uniform.
- Assists in the dining room and bistro, including during alternate dining periods, as needed.
- Performs other tasks and assists in other departments as directed by the Lifestyle Director, Director of Reflections, Executive Director/General Manager, or supervisor on duty.
Qualifications
Knowledge of audio/visual equipment is essential.
Ability to foster positive social engagement among residents and staff.
Proficiency in organizing and distributing materials like calendars, newsletters, and memos.
Experience in leading and facilitating activities independently.
Understanding of Residents' backgrounds, hobbies, and interests to encourage involvement.
Basic computer skills for data management and organization.
