Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist in the creation, development, and publishing of music training resources, including piano instruction.
  • Provide administrative organization of committee and volunteer processes.
  • Aid in planning and executing music training-related events.
  • Review and edit physical and electronic sheet music, audio recordings, and other assets.
  • Adapt to the demands of the work as needed, supporting administrative needs of management and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related discipline with 4 or more years of professional experience in music-related fields.
  • Sound understanding of Church organization, doctrine, policy, and practice.
  • General computing skills (facility with Word, Outlook, Excel, and Acrobat).
  • The ability to communicate well and present a professional image.
  • The ability to lead and coordinate the work of others.
  • The ability to give careful attention to detail and sustain concentration for long periods of time.
  • Organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to assist the Priesthood and Family Department in its mission to help God's children joyfully live the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church Music office, located in the Priesthood and Family Department at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City, oversees the music needs for Church members and Church headquarters. This includes the hymnbook and children’s songbook, as well as training resources for music callings. The current priorities involve revising the hymnbook and children’s songbook, along with related efforts.

Benefits

This is a temporary time-bound role, anticipated to end with the completion of the hymnbook redesign project, currently expected to conclude by 2030. The position may be filled on either a part-time or full-time basis, ranging from approximately 10 to 40 hours per week, depending on the qualifications, availability, and needs of both the candidate and the organization.
