About the role

The Music or Recreation Therapist leads engaging group and individual interventions, designs purposeful treatment plans, and adapts approaches based on each patient's unique needs. This role prepares clear, goal-oriented treatment plans and facilitates experiences designed to enhance strengths, build coping skills, support emotional expression, and foster hope.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging group and individual interventions
• Design purposeful treatment plans
• Adapt therapeutic approaches based on patients' responses and evolving needs
• Prepare clear, goal-oriented treatment plans
• Facilitate experiences designed to enhance strengths, build coping skills, support emotional expression, and foster hope
• Provide therapeutic experiences that assist the patient to utilize and enhance their strengths, improve coping skills, and foster hope

Requirements

• Knowledge of principles of assessment and ability to modify treatment approaches based on patients’ response to interventions
• Able to prepare written treatment plans with objectives and interventions
• Able to conduct group and individual interventions
• Knowledge of the dynamics and processes of a therapeutic relationship and of group therapy
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of professional standards of clinical documentation
• Knowledge of professional code of ethics and the hospital’s ethical standards
• Able to interact with others in a manner that respects diversity and differences including but not limited to culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices
• Current professional certification/licensure or eligible within 6 months

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a degree in Music or Recreation Therapy from an accredited institution and current professional certification/licensure or eligibility within six months
• Additional considerations include experience in a hospital setting, experience working in a clinical setting, and experience working with older adults and/or individuals with mental health issues

Skills

Strong knowledge of therapeutic relationship dynamics, group processes, professional ethics, and clinical documentation standards is essential. Effective written and verbal communication, along with the ability to engage respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds, cultures, identities, and beliefs, is required.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $54,556 to $83,287, with a pay band of 3.
