About the role
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking an experienced and collaborative Municipal Stormwater Permit Manager to provide strategic leadership and support in the development & implementation of Seattle’s NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Phase I Municipal Stormwater Permit, while supporting other regulatory and water quality-related work at SPU focused on protecting and enhancing the environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead for tracking and reporting permit requirements in coordination with the City’s Capital Departments
- City lead and liaison with Department of Ecology on municipal stormwater permit requirements
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, training, and resources to City staff and work groups to understand permit requirements, ensure accurate information collection and implementation of stormwater BMPs
- Update and track implementation of the City’s Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) Plan
- Ensure successful roll-out of Permit requirements in the City’s MS4 areas located both inside and outside of the City limits
- Lead or support water quality and stormwater Policy development
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience in the strategic development and/or implementation of stormwater regulations and/or stormwater management programs or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, planning, policy or engineering or related field or Five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted if applicant does not have a degree
- Valid Washington State Driver License to operate city vehicle to satellite offices
