Municipal Law Attorney

Role Overview

Best Best & Krieger LLP is seeking an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join its Houston office. The position focuses on municipal law, real estate, and housing‑related matters, advising public clients on governance, regulatory compliance, land use, zoning, public policy, complex real estate transactions, and affordable‑housing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Advise public clients on municipal governance, regulatory compliance, land‑use, zoning, and public‑policy issues.
• Handle complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, and development.
• Counsel clients on housing‑law matters, particularly affordable‑housing programs and related regulatory frameworks.
• Draft, negotiate, and analyze legal documents with a high degree of precision.
• Manage matters independently and efficiently while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Contribute to the growth of the practice, leveraging an entrepreneurial mindset.

Requirements

• Minimum of eight (8) years of legal experience.
• License to practice law in Texas.
• Portable book of business strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $185,000 – $200,000, with the actual amount dependent on the candidate’s years of practice and experience.
