13 News is a Gray Television station and the CBS affiliate in Tucson, Arizona. We produce 62 hours of live, televised newscasts per week between KOLD and our shared services partner, KMSB Fox 11. Job Summary/Description

  • Develop and pitch original, enterprise-driven story ideas that connect with our viewers and reflect the needs of our community
  • Shoot, write, edit, and present compelling, accurate, and engaging stories — working independently or alongside a photographer
  • Tailor and optimize storytelling for each KOLD platform, including broadcast, digital, streaming, and social media
  • Contribute meaningfully to daily editorial conversations and help shape coverage decisions
  • Build trusted sources and community relationships that lead to impactful, people-focused journalism
  • Meet deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom while maintaining strong journalistic standards

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, communications, or a related field
  • A self-starter attitude with the confidence to pitch ideas, chase leads, and manage stories from start to finish
  • Strong writing skills, solid news judgment, and a commitment to accuracy and fairness
  • The ability to shoot, write, and edit compelling stories on deadline
  • A strong understanding of digital, streaming, and social platforms, with the ability to adapt storytelling for each audience
  • A clean driving record and the ability to travel as needed for assignments
  • A strong, authentic on-camera presence and the ability to connect with viewers
