Multimedia Journalist
Job Description
Local News Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at KCCI, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, is seeking a journalist who can identify important story ideas, shoot and edit video news packages, and present in a compelling manner. Reporting to the News Director, this role involves:
- Gathering information for stories and live reports for newscasts
- Coverage of breaking news, weather, and sports
- Putting together high-quality packages
- Collaborating with reporters on packages, special reports, and documentaries
- Developing sources, creating story ideas, and producing content on-air, online, and all digital platforms
- Selling live shots and live interviews, and tracking news stories
Requirements
- Professional or schooling experience in television news reporting, photography, and editing
- Creative writer and editor
- Ability to deliver with authenticity to connect with viewers
- Availability to provide samples of reporting and photography
- Experience developing local contacts
- Experience shooting and editing high-quality video
- Ability to deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
