About the Role

This role is for an experienced Mission Planning Environment Administrator providing Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) support at Komatsu Air Base in Japan. The Mission Planning Environment Administrator directly supports JSF operations by assuring the integrity and availability of the applications and servers on the system. The successful candidate will be the main interface between the Mission Planning Environment system and the pilots and maintainers supporting the F-35.

This is an operational support role to an active fighter unit, so the selected candidate may be required to work at deployed locations, support rotating shifts, and work over 40 hours per week—which may include weekends—as dictated by mission requirements. This role supports the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) and will be based in Komatsu, Japan. Occasional deployment with the Japan Air Self Defense Force is required.

Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with users and ALIS/LM leadership.
  • Support pilots in Mission Planning/Debriefing and identify/resolve system shortfalls.
  • Perform Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) installation and data updates.
  • Support, administer, and monitor associated hardware/software and pilot accounts.
  • Maintain smooth, secure operation of multi-user computer systems through coordination with peers, Tier 2 support, and engineers.
  • Perform backups, restores, and disaster recovery of systems/databases/network equipment.
  • Review processes/procedures and collect system operational data for analysis.
  • Train JASDF administrators as well as pilots on how to effectively operate and maintain mission planning software and equipment.

Qualifications

A level 4 employee typically has 9–12 years of professional experience related to aviation or the information technology industry.

Basic Requirements

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation within the last 6 years.
  • Must have and retain DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, or CCNA).
  • IT experience of any combination in system/database/network administration.
  • Must be willing and able to deploy in support of the Japan Air Self Defense Force.
  • Experience with three of the following: PowerShell; Virtual Machines; DNS/DHCP; SQLPlus; RMAN; data import/export; Layers 2 & 3; firewalls; Splunk; Trellix products.

Desired Skills

  • 3 or more years of F-35 Mission Planning Environment or related F-35 administration experience.
  • Familiarity with the Japan Air Self Defense Force, including policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Familiarity with Japanese customs and culture.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Precision Guided Munitions Planning Software (PGMPS) experience.
  • Mission Planning Systems Support Representatives (SSR) experience.
  • Personal Computer Debrief Software (PCDS) experience.
  • Account maintenance using Active Directory.
  • Disaster recovery: backups and restores of physical servers, virtual machines, and network equipment.
  • Virtual Machine Management Service (Hyper-V / VMware).
  • Maintaining/upgrading system hardware and startup/shutdown of rack-mounted hardware.
  • Applying updates, anti-virus/anti-spyware updates, and patch updates.
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin products and processes, including the JSF ALIS hardware and software.
  • Experience with Tech Refresh 3 (TR3) hardware.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $104,900.00 – $194,700.00. The salary range is a general guideline and may vary based on factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market considerations.
