About the Role

The Multi-Domain Sensing Engineer/Model Simulation Analyst will support the Space Warfighting Analysis Center’s (SWAC) Multi-Domain Sensing Program (MDSP), Missile Warning Tracking & Defense (MWTD) Division in Colorado Springs, CO. The role focuses on Missile Warning/Missile Tracking (MW/MT) systems and modeling and simulation (M&S). The SWAC conducts analysis, modeling, wargaming, and experimentation to create operational concepts and Force Design guidance for the Space Force.

The applicant will capture missile defense “ground truth” simulation-ready scenarios for MW/MT sensor trade and missile defense kill-chain analysis, both in-house and across multiple organizations. The role requires clear communication of work status and results to stakeholders and senior leaders across the Department of War and Intelligence Community.

This position demands a strong technical understanding of MW/MT and significant experience with M&S. The candidate must articulate missile warning and tracking sensing needs, develop modeling and simulation tools, analyze results, and coordinate internal and external efforts while recommending improvements to concepts and architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop target (missile) and effector simulations and corresponding trajectory and behavior files using industry-standard M&S tools such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).
• Develop modeling and simulation analysis and assessment scripts using government network supportable tools such as Python and/or MATLAB.
• Develop space-based missile warning access and performance models using industry-standard M&S tools such as Systems Tool Kit (STK) or Satellite Orbit Analysis Program (SOAP). Integrate SWAC space-based ISR capability area force designs with modeling and simulation expertise.
• Assist in force design analysis planning, execution coordination, and results evaluation.
• Recommend and document force design dependencies and opportunities (joint, intelligence community, industry, international, and other government organizations).
• Assist with modeling inputs and simulation development for external M&S efforts.
• Collaborate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution involving systems engineering and integration activities for a force design effort.
• Coordinate efforts internally and externally with multiple agencies/organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years or more of experience; Master's degree and seven (7) years or more.
• Demonstrated experience developing complex space system models and simulations in AFSIM (required). Additional experience with STK and/or SOAP is highly desired.
• Demonstrated experience developing simulation scripts and interface code using Python and/or MATLAB.
• 5+ years of space system modeling and simulation experience, including analyzing results.
• In-depth understanding of MW/MT systems and operations.
• STEM bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred).
• Strong communication skills and ability to understand complex technical issues, producing recommendations for a wide audience.
• Background in applying analytical problem-solving at tactical, operational, and strategic levels across multiple DoD organizations.
• Ability to apply analysis techniques to identify operational shortfalls of U.S. space capabilities and recommend future architectures.
• Ability to create decision-quality materials for senior leaders quickly.
• Critical thinking in complex and dynamic organizational environments.
• Experience with space design, architecture, and/or system development (desired).
• Knowledge of working in a classified and compartmented environment (required).
• Active TS clearance with in-scope T5/SSBI, SCI eligibility, and participation in Continuous Evaluation (required).
• Must meet all requirements for SCI and SAP access and be willing to undergo a polygraph examination. Current polygraph (within 5 years) is desired.
• 10% travel required.

Pay

Target salary range: $160,000 - $200,000.
