Multi-Certified Medical Assistant

About the role

This is a dual role clinical and non-clinical position at the TCP North Austin Pediatrics Clinic, combining responsibilities as a Front Office Specialist II and Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the collection of patient/family data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol
• Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with 100% accuracy
• Updates documentation to include if patient has received care at any other location since last visit
• Documents current medications, allergies, and other information per practice protocol with 100% accuracy
• Coordinates referrals, ensuring that the family has contact information for referral and any necessary documentation needed
• Tasks are measured by observation of the evaluator, feedback from providers, and review of electronic health record
• Provides general patient care
• Administers medication and immunizations
• Supports patients/families in self-management of their health through assisting with education
• Collects specimens and performs laboratory tests
• Maintains certification by fulfilling continuing education (CE) requirements as directed by certification agency
• Demonstrates Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families, and co-workers
• Provides operational support, performs reception duties, and screens phone calls
• Maintains integrity of medical record and monitors patient information and other practice data

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program or documentation from the licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not a requirement for certification
• 1-year related experience (required)
• 2 years related experience (preferred)
• PALS certification by the American Heart Association
