About the role
This is a dual role clinical and non-clinical position at the TCP North Austin Pediatrics Clinic, combining responsibilities as a Front Office Specialist II and Certified Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the collection of patient/family data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol
- Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with 100% accuracy
- Updates documentation to include if patient has received care at any other location since last visit
- Documents current medications, allergies, and other information per practice protocol with 100% accuracy
- Coordinates referrals, ensuring that the family has contact information for referral and any necessary documentation needed
- Tasks are measured by observation of the evaluator, feedback from providers, and review of electronic health record
- Provides general patient care
- Administers medication and immunizations
- Supports patients/families in self-management of their health through assisting with education
- Collects specimens and performs laboratory tests
- Maintains certification by fulfilling continuing education (CE) requirements as directed by certification agency
- Demonstrates Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families, and co-workers
- Provides operational support, performs reception duties, and screens phone calls
- Maintains integrity of medical record and monitors patient information and other practice data
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program or documentation from the licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not a requirement for certification
- 1-year related experience (required)
- 2 years related experience (preferred)
- PALS certification by the American Heart Association

- EMT - Emergency Medical Technician by the Texas Department of State Health Services
- EMT-A - Advanced EMT by the Texas Department of State Health Services
- EMT-B - Emergency Medical Technician-Basic by the Texas Department of State Health Services
- EMT-I - Emergency Medical Technician-Interm by the Texas Department of State Health Services
