Multi-Building Custodian

About the role

The Multi-Building Custodian (On Site) position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day and ensure all doors and windows are secured and lights are turned off.
• Maintain a regular service schedule on all motors, mechanical equipment, ballasts, lights, and regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Shovel, plow, and/or sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as necessary.
• Check daily to ensure all exit doors are operating properly.
• Dust furniture according to a weekly schedule.
• Sweep and vacuum classrooms daily.
• Able to wet/dry strip wax on floors, required for yearly maintenance.
• Able to wax floors for yearly maintenance.
• Clean corridors during the day as often as is required.
• Scrub and disinfect toilet floors daily, clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
• Wash all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice a year and more frequently if necessary.
• Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
• Clean all chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a week.
• Move furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the principal.
• Make such minor building repairs as he/she is capable of performing.
• Report major repairs needed promptly to the building principal through maintenance request.
• Perform such yard keeping chores as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe, attractive condition.
• Report immediately to the building principal any damage to school property.
• Remain on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance required by the principal.
• If an elementary building, perform weekly playground inspections (with paperwork and maintenance as required).
• Perform weekend building check including freezers, HVAC, doors, and lights.
• Will be in a scheduled rotation with Senior High for weekend activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• Participate in training as needed

Evaluation

Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation Policy.

Terms of Employment

• 12 months; Full Time
