MTSS Team Member

About the Role

Response to Intervention (RTI) is one component of the district’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). RTI is an instructional framework that includes universal screening of all students, multiple tiers of instruction and support services, and an integrated data collection and assessment system to inform decisions at each tier of instruction.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the problem-solving process to identify and recommend interventions and resources differentiated by area of academic need.
• Formally meet at least twice per month outside of contracted hours for a minimum of one hour per meeting, maintaining a 75% attendance rate.
• Use the Mansfield City Schools MTSS Handbook to implement MTSS structure and assigned roles.
• Provide training for the use and implementation of interventions, resources, and progress monitoring.
• Collaborate with and provide feedback to TBTs, BLT, PBIS, Administration, and Special Education Leadership.
• Engage staff with a structured literacy certification process as needed in MTSS.
• Assist and support the monitoring of student data at all three tiers of MTSS.

Team Composition

Each school will have one coordinator and the following number of team members:

• Sherman Elementary: 1 Coordinator + 7 Team Members = 8
• Malabar Intermediate: 1 Coordinator + 7 Team Members = 8
• Mansfield Middle: 1 Coordinator + 3 Team Members = 4
• Mansfield Senior High: 1 Coordinator + 5 Team Members = 6
• Spanish Immersion: 1 Coordinator + 3 Team Members = 4
• Springmill STEM: 1 Coordinator + 3 Team Members = 4

Note: To meet Dyslexia requirements, teams should include at least one member who has completed or is in the process of completing an approved Structured Literacy Certification process.

Compensation

• MTSS (RTI) Team Member: 2% supplemental pay
• MTSS (RTI) Team Coordinator: 5% supplemental pay

Recommended Roles and Responsibilities

Data Manager Prepares summary of RTI Tier 2/Tier 3 participation; fills out Tier 2/Tier 3 tracking forms; gathers and organizes intervention data. Recorder/Time Keeper Generates Google Calendar meeting events; attaches agenda to Google Calendar invite. Maintains intervention tracking form for each student; maintains meeting minutes within the agenda; keeps discussion on-track. Creates next agenda. Liaison Communicates with other existing building teams (e.g., TBTs, BLT, PBIS) and building principal(s); receives and manages referrals. Presents new referrals to the RTI team; communicates necessary information from other building teams. Communicates with other existing building teams when the RTI team meets (e.g., TBTs, BLT, PBIS). Reading Specialist Researches and maintains a body of evidence-based reading interventions. Recommends Tier 2/Tier 3 interventions; provides support to intervention providers; performs intervention fidelity checks. Math Specialist Researches and maintains a body of evidence-based math interventions. Recommends Tier 2/Tier 3 interventions; provides support to intervention providers; performs intervention fidelity checks.
