About the role

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking Entry Level Police Officers to serve on its bus, metro, light rail, and MARC Train/Commuter Bus Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Enforcing laws, rules, and regulations
  • Performing safety and security duties
  • Patrolling in motor vehicles or on foot
  • Responding to trespassers and suspicious persons
  • Directing vehicular traffic and enforcing parking regulations
  • Issuing verbal and written warnings or issuing summonses and making arrests
  • Investigating accidents and criminal acts
  • Writing clear and accurate accident and/or unusual incident reports
  • Responding to disturbances and emergencies
  • Rendering emergency first aid
  • Transporting suspects in State vehicles
  • Participating in additional training as required

Qualifications

  • Age/Citizenship: At least 20 ½ years of age and a citizen of the United States
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Selection Process: Written Examination, Physical Agility Test, Oral Interview, Background Investigation, Polygraph Examination, Medical Examination

Requirements

  • A recent copy of your non-certified total driving record from the MVA
  • A photocopy of your current Driver's License

Benefits

An attractive retirement and benefits package is provided. Salary starts at $58,758.00 and increases upon graduation from the academy.
